Okinawan girl

This is a revisit of a painting I did a long time ago. It was inspired by the pain of the many Okinawan girls who've been violated by American officials since the island's occupation after World War II.

Este é um desenho retomando o tema de uma pintura que fiz anos atrás. Foi inspirado na dor das muitas garotas de Okinawa, que têm sido violadas por soldados americanos desde a ocupação da ilha após a Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Attending to demands, I'm back to blogging.
This is a drawing I did back in December.
"Esquecimento global" (global forgetfulness), in Portuguese, sounds like "aquecimento global" (global warming).
The text in red says, "Ne touchons jamais ne manipulons jamais les animaux trouves morts en foret" (Never touch or manipulate the animals found dead in the forest).

The power to change things

So I'm finally starting a new blog. I had one on Fotolog (www.fotolog.com/uakari), but stopped posting after a while. Let me start fresh here, with new artwork and reflections.
I drew this little boy yesterday during a lecture. The speaker was talking about a wall painted in orange-juice-vomit color. He told someone who was in charge how ugly that was, and they repainted it. We have power to change things.
Right now, my mind is in Sudan. A genocide is going on right now. We criticize the people who ignored the Holocaust while we're doing exactly the same thing. We did it with Rwanda, and we're doing it again with Sudan. Hundreds of thousands of people have already been killed, and the Western world has turned its face away. You ask me why? Because the big money is in the Middle East. Africa does not pay off.
Bringing it back to the power to change things, I've been thinking of ways I could change things here, even if it is something small. I'm open to ideas and suggestions.
